Our Commitment to the Environment

Mission Statement

“We acknowledge the important relationship between industry and the environment,
one that must be respected and preserved.”

What’s in a Name?

Globe (glob) n., v., globed, glob·ing. [from Latin globus.]
The word globe is most often used to describe our planet earth. From our early ancestors who used the globe to navigate the oceans to those of us who have simply enjoyed the earth’s beauty in our travels and everyday lives, the globe, our earth, symbolizes countless resources, phenomenal power and natural wonder. It is also our world, the only one we have. We must pledge to protect, cherish and sustain our globe for future generations. In taking Globe as our name, we are making this pledge.

Our Pledge to the Environment

We are dedicated to environmental stewardship, the careful, responsible management of our natural resources. We are committed to ecological awareness to make sure that our business practices are aimed at preserving and enhancing the quality of our environment and leading to social and economical improvements in our community. We think globally with the goal of fostering a sustainable future.

What is Sustainability?

The United Nations Division for Sustainable Development is dedicated to improving the well being of present and future generations by providing guidance on how to pursue a more sustainable future.

“Development that meets the needs of the present
without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”

Globe Team Involvement

In 2006, we formalized our commitment to the environment by creating The Global Environmental Action Committee, an internal team dedicated to improving our environmental performance and research for sustainable business solutions. This committee consists of several Globe employees including President Arthur Stanton and Chief Energy Officer, Robert Lion.
